Alluno v0.6.x: Visual Fidelity & Native Input

HDR for stunning visuals, kernel-level input with HInpuD, pen/stylus support, and virtual display driver for headless setups.

We're excited to announce Alluno v0.6.x: a major step forward in visual quality and input fidelity. This release brings HDR, kernel-level input, and headless virtual displays.

What's New

HDR (High Dynamic Range)

  • Full HDR pipeline: Capture, encode, and stream in HDR across Windows, macOS, and Linux.
  • Wide color gamut: Preserve the full range of colors and brightness from the source display.
  • Per-platform optimization: NVENC, AMF, VideoToolbox, and VAAPI all support HDR encoding natively.

Kernel-Level Input (Windows)

  • HInpuD driver: A new KMDF filter driver that injects input at the kernel level, making remote input indistinguishable from physical hardware.
  • Bypasses injection flags: No more LLKHF_INJECTED flag on keyboard events, so applications that reject synthetic input now work seamlessly.
  • Automatic fallback: If the driver isn't installed, Alluno falls back to standard input injection transparently.

Pen & Stylus Support

  • macOS and Linux: Pen input is now forwarded to remote devices, enabling drawing, handwriting, and pressure-sensitive workflows.

Virtual Display Driver (Windows)

  • Headless setups: A virtual display is created when no physical monitor is connected, so you can capture and stream without a display.
  • Configurable: "auto" (headless only), "always" (force virtual display), or "never" (physical only).
  • Crash-safe: A watchdog automatically cleans up the virtual display if the process exits unexpectedly.

Other Improvements

  • Display enumeration: Event-based detection of display changes.
  • Audio optimizations: Reduced latency in macOS audio pipelines.
  • Absolute mouse fixes: More accurate cursor positioning across remote sessions.
  • Application bundling: Improved distribution for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
