Two things give away a remote session: the picture looks flatter than the real screen, and some application ignores your keyboard because it can tell the input is synthetic. v0.6.x goes after both, plus the case where the machine has no monitor at all.

HDR end to end

Captured, encoded and streamed in HDR on all three platforms.

Input the system believes

Alluno's own input driver makes remote input indistinguishable from hardware.

No monitor needed

A virtual display appears when nothing physical is connected.

HDR, not a tone-mapped approximation

The whole pipeline carries high dynamic range: capture, encode and stream, on Windows, macOS and Linux. Wide colour gamut is preserved, so the brightness and colour range of the source display survives the trip rather than being flattened on the way out. NVENC, AMF, VideoToolbox and VAAPI all encode HDR natively.

Input that applications cannot tell apart

Some applications deliberately reject synthetic input, which historically meant they rejected remote control too.

Alluno input drivernew

Alluno's own input driver, so remote input is indistinguishable from physical hardware.

No injection flagfixed

Keyboard events no longer carry LLKHF_INJECTED, so applications that filter on it now work.

Automatic fallbacksafe

Without the driver installed, Alluno falls back to standard injection transparently.

A display that does not exist

For headless machines, a virtual display is created when no physical monitor is connected, so there is something to capture. It takes three settings: auto for headless only, always to force it, never to use physical displays exclusively. A watchdog cleans the virtual display up if the process exits unexpectedly, so a crash does not leave a phantom monitor behind.

Also in this release

  • Display enumeration is event-based, so display changes are detected as they happen.
  • macOS audio latency reduced.
  • Absolute mouse positioning is more accurate across remote sessions.
  • Application bundling improved for Windows, macOS and Linux.
