Before you start

Windowshost

Windows 10 or 11, 64 bit, on an x64 processor. The installer bundles the virtual display driver, so a machine with no monitor attached still gets a screen at your resolution.

macOShost

macOS 12.3 or later, on Apple Silicon or Intel. Screen recording and accessibility permissions are requested on first launch.

Linuxhost

X11 or Wayland on x86_64, shipped as AppImage, deb and rpm. The packages grant the screen capture permission during install.

Clientbrowser

Any current Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox. Media over QUIC uses WebTransport where the browser has it and falls back to WebSockets through the relay where it does not. Live rooms need WebTransport.

Set up the host

Download and install

Pick your platform on the download page. The page detects your operating system and offers the matching build first.

Download the host

Approve the prompts

On first launch the host asks for what it needs: the driver and firewall prompts on Windows, screen recording on macOS. Nothing is captured until somebody actually joins a session.

Pair it to your account

The host shows a Device PID and a pairing code of fifteen letters and numbers, with a QR for the same thing. Open the dashboard in the browser you want to watch from, choose Pair a machine, and enter the code or scan it with a phone.

Open it

The machine appears on your dashboard. Open session starts the stream. Close the tab and the host goes back to idle with capture switched off.

What pairing changes

Pairing links the machine to your account and closes it to you alone. Until then a fresh host lets in anyone who types the code it shows on its screen. From then on your own sign in is enough to open it, with no code on every visit, and you decide from the dashboard who else may come in.

Pairing codeuntil claimed

The code works until someone pairs the machine. Once a machine has an owner the code pairs nothing, and ownership only moves by transfer from the dashboard. The one time code the host shows newcomers is separate, and each lasts five minutes.

Visibilitysetting

Listed machines appear on the public devices page. Unlisted machines are reachable only by address.

Accesssetting

Six settings, from Owner only up to Open to all. Trusted only admits the people you marked trusted. Invite required, Sign in to join and Anyone with a code each let more people in, and each of them makes a newcomer type the one time code the host shows; trusted people and the owner never see it. Open to all asks nobody for a code. Visibility and access are separate switches on purpose.

Running as a service on Windows

The Windows host can install itself as a service from its Features panel. A service starts before anyone signs in, so you can reach the login screen and answer administrator prompts from the browser. Install it once from the host; the installer does not do this by itself.
